BY MIKE METTLER – FEBRUARY 2, 2018
Chilean prog ensemble Aisles, South America’s most acclaimed prog band of the last 10 years, is premiering the second video of their Live From Estudio del Sur Sessions for the song “Shallow and Daft,” which was originally released on their 2013 album, 4:45 AM. The clip was directed by Bernardo Quesney (Gepe, Javiera Mena).
Pure Grain Audio has premiered Aisles’ new video for “Shallow and Daft,” which you can see right here.
Says Aisles guitarist Germán Vergara, “’Shallow and Daft’ is a song with a strong criticism to the logic behind the mass entertainment industry. We wanted to be deliberately ironic and the original version had a notoriously ’80s pop sound. When we decided to release this series of videos, we thought we could make it more current with a modern, fresher sound. Additionally, we wanted to include a feminine touch, so we invited the talented singer Catalina Blanco from the rock band Tephiret. We kept the message, but presented it in a new form.”
The Live From Estudio del Sur Sessions started with the video for the song “Clouds Motion,” and more videos will be coming soon.
With four studio albums and a career spanning 12 years, including In Sudden Walks (2009), 4:45 AM (2013), and Hawaii (2016), Aisles have been cited as South America’s most acclaimed prog act of the last decade. Their combination of rock, fusion, jazz, and world music illustrates the band’s overall eclectic approach
